Our gloves are manufactured in strict accordance with CE standards for international markets. Here, we share how to choose the right yarn for cotton yarn gloves manufacturing.

The right yarn is the key to manufacturing quality cotton yarn gloves.  The text below is to show you specific types of yarn available for the yarn gloves production. It’s expected that the information could be helpful for selecting an appropriate cotton yarn according to your demands.

Types of Yarn

Pure cotton yarn is made from 100% natural cotton, characteristic of good breath-ability and sweat absorption. It’s a best choice for customers requiring comfort and softness. Pure cotton yarn gloves are soft, skin-friendly and biodegradable. It’s a choice you can’t be missing if your skin get easily allergic. However, gloves made of pure cotton yarn are also relatively poor in wear resistance and easy to shrink. ·

Polyester-cotton blended yarn is as its description, a blend of cotton and polyester fiber. Yarn gloves made from blended polyester and cotton is featured with the softness of cotton and the durability of polyester. This kind of yarn gloves are increasingly popular with an excellent balance between keeping the strength and durability of the gloves and maintaining great comfort and breath-ability. Although the blended yarn gloves are wear resistant and tear resistant, it cannot replace the cotton yarn gloves, as the cotton ones are better in aspects of comfort and moisture absorption.

Recycled cotton yarn is more environmental friendly, as it is made from waste cotton or other cotton recycled and reprocessed products. Gloves in recycled cotton yarn is more price competitive. It’s pretty suitable for price sensitive or environmentally friendly customers. Selecting recycled cotton yarn for gloves production, customers usually do not require high durability and high comfort. And they take these gloves for single use. In short, recycled cotton yarn gloves are more environmental friendly and costs effective, compared with the 100% new cotton yarn at the sacrifice of the performance in softness and comfort.

Organic cotton yarn is made from cotton, grown without chemical fertilizers and pesticides. So organic cotton yarn is also a nice choice for environment lovers and sustainable development supporters.  ·

Different yarns have different wear resistance, softness and cost. The selection of cotton yarn should be specifically considered based on practical use. We have to take factors into consideration, such as working environment, customer needs and cost budget. For gloves requiring high strength and wear resistance, polyester-cotton blended yarn or roving yarn; For gloves requiring comfort and breathability, combed cotton or fine yarn is a better choice. At the same time, we might have to think about environmentally friendly and functional cotton yarn if customers are strongly environmentally friendly or have special uses.

Yarn Count

Yarn count is the number of threads per square inch within a fabric. How fine or wide the yarn fiber is within the fabric would directly affect the yarn count. Larger fibers in diameter take up more space, so will have a smaller thread count. Depending on the thickness and purpose of the glove, we select the right thickness and amount of yarn used.

Low count, such as 10S, 16S: This yarn is thicker.  The cotton yarn gloves out of these yarns are thicker, more wear resistant, but less flexible. The gloves are suitable for harsh working environment like construction industry.

High count, such as 21S, 32S: The yarn is thinner. Yarn gloves in 21S or 32S are thin, lightweight and good breath-ability. So the high count cotton yarn gloves are suitable for light work or occasions, such as fine work and home use when higher flexibility is required. Compared with the low count yarn gloves, they are less wear resistant.

Yarn Structure

Ring Spun Yarn is tight, of high strength and good durability, and suitable for cotton yarn gloves, which ask for high durability.

Open End Yarn is comparatively more loose. So the feeling for such yarn gloves is soft but the strength is slightly lower. The open end yarn could be chosen for lightweight gloves in need of high comfort and cheaper price.

Yarn Treatment

Combing cotton yarn: The combing process removes the short fibers in the cotton fiber, making the yarn more delicate and smooth. And gloves in combing cotton yarn are softer, durable and of a better texture. This kind of gloves feels softer and is more wear resistant. And of course, costs would be higher.

Ordinary cotton yarn: Without combing treatment, the yarn contains more short fibers. As a result, the feeling and strength of the cotton yarn gloves are not as good as that out of combed cotton yarn. But the cost is lower. It is suitable for customers without high requirements.

Custom Yarn Color ·

Natural cotton color: It is without dyeing treatment and maintains the natural color of cotton yarn (usually white or light brown). So it is more environmentally friendly, non-irritating, especially good for those of no special requirement for glove color. ·

Dyed cotton yarn: It can be dyed in various colors for customers so as to easily tell different positions or departments. It is necessary to pay heed to color fastness to avoid any allergies to skin.
